This will be trimmed during the final wig fitting. Pin the edges of the lace to the wig block.
5. Take the real or synthetic hair out of its packaging. Lay the hair in between the teeth of the hackle, a large barbed comb and quickly pull the hair through the teeth. The hackle will fine comb the hair to blend and straighten it.
6. Place the hair in between two drawing mats. The drawing mats hold the hair in place and allow you to easily draw hair out as you sew the hair onto the lace wig cap.
7. Pull a small section of hair, no more than 1/4 inch wide, out from the drawing mats and fold over in half. Ventilate the hair through the lace cap by taking the needle through the lace and pulling a few strands of hair from your separated section back through the lace cap and securing them onto the cap with a knot. The knot is tied by folding over the root end of the hair so it makes a loop and passing the body of the hair through it.
8. Sew the hair beginning at the bottom of the lace cap, in the area that would fit over the nape of the neck. Sew the hair across the cap, from side to side. Fill each hole in the lace cap by individually sewing the strands of hair into them. Filling each hole in the lace cap will give your wig a more natural look.
9. Continue sewing the hair onto the lace cape until you arrive at the front of the hairline. Sew the hair at the front of the hairline one strand of hair at a time for a more natural look. Cut away the extra lace at the front of the hairline to follow the exact lines of the natural hairline at the final fitting. Use bobby pins or a lace wig adhesive to secure the wig in place and style as desired.
